Abstract
This research sheds light on the legal challenges that owners and drivers of self-driving vehicles will face within the current legal framework. Existing legal texts do not fully address the advancements in artificial intelligence systems, particularly in the field of self-driving vehicles. The legal framework surrounding such vehicles remains in its infancy.
Through this research, we aimed to assess the extent to which the current legislative environment can accommodate the implications of using these vehicles, especially since the legal principles governing them have not yet been adequately developed. Additionally, the international legislative stance on this type of vehicle is still in its early stages.
At the conclusion of this study, we found that the unique nature of these vehicles and the diverse components involved in their operation necessitate early intervention by the Jordanian legislator to establish a specific legal system tailored to the characteristics of these vehicles. This is crucial for addressing the legal and technical challenges that may arise in the future.
